Is Israel guilty of war crimes in Gaza? Should Ukraine continue to resist Russia’s invasion? Is it right that soldiers be taken to court for killing insurgents rather than arresting them? Should we introduce the concept of a right into the laws of war? These are some of the questions raised by recent and current conflicts. This series of lectures will introduce, explain, and apply the most sophisticated apparatus now available for addressing such questions: the Western Christian and philosophical tradition of the ‘just war’.
